In a bid to ensure that children are protected from various forms of abuses, YONECO has embarked on educating children about their rights and responsibilities in Nsanje district.
The intervention is mainly being implemented in the area of Village Head Liuwa where many children have dropped out of school due to forced child marriages, child labour, parental neglect and teen pregnancies.
YONECO also publicized various reporting mechanisms that are available in Malawi including the Tithandizane toll-free Child Helpline, Community Victim Support Unit (CVSU), the Department of Social Welfare and the Malawi Police Service.
As YONECO, we firmly believe that children who are aware of their rights and responsibilities are ably understand personal safety boundaries and they are more likely to speak out on issues that affect them.
